Single Sort Recycling
Overview

The Village of Orland Park uses Single Sort residential recycling. All single family homes and townhomes in the Village received a 64-gallon, blue, roll-away toter / cart for all recyclables.

Residents in a condominium should contact Waste Management to obtain a recycling bin.

Single sort recycling uses only one container to provide for the multitude of recyclables. No longer is there a need to sort the recyclables into separate containers. For more information about what is recyclable, see Waste Management’s Single Sort Recycling FAQ page or click on the Accepted Items menu item on the left.

The blue recycling container will be picked up every other week. The recyclables will be picked up during alternate weeks on your normal garbage pick-up day.  A printable Refuse Collection map indicating the collection day of the week and the 2012 recycling pick-up calendar showing the Green week and Gold week are available in the Document Center under Public Works - Streets.

Collection vehicles equipped with mechanical arms will be used to empty the recycling carts.  Please place the container along the street with the lid opening toward the street and with approximately 3 feet of space between the container and other objects (see the image below.)  This will provide enough room for the automated arms to engage the container and properly unload the material.

For more information contact Waste Management at (800) 796-9696.
