On October 19, 2007, the Illinois Arts Alliance and the Illinois Municipal League presented the Village of Orland Park with an Honorable Mention for the Illinois Arts Friendly Community Awards.
Orland Park was one of just thirteen Illinois communities receiving an honorable mention. The award was presented at the Illinois Municipal League’s annual conference in Chicago.
The Village was recognized for the creation of the Public Arts Commission to promote the development of the performing and fine arts, encourage community participation and awareness of the arts, and to assist in the development of local artists. The annual Fine Arts Fair, Youth Art Expo, the dedication of a municipal building as a Cultural Arts Center, Dance Chicago, the Community Do it Yourself Messiah, Historic Walking Tour, and other events were also recognized.
